It's the whole shifting-power thing, Aurthur, it's not the person with the grandest title who has the most power, but the person who knows the most. And if ONI have the info, they have the power, ultimatly. And if they don't think the Chancellor should know... well, it doesn't mean the Chancellor won't use her political sway to get what she wants, but it does make things harder.

Just 1 thing, Marine. Wouldn't the Supreme Chancellor have access to classified files?

Thanks all of you! Reading your comments is better than ritalin, the only side-effect here is I might start getting cocky. Thanks particularly to Aurthur, your ethusiastic comment proves it was worth taking the time to make it sound authentic.
Oh! And as for 'Brutus.' Surely I'm not sadistic enough to leave it there...

TM, I can hardly forgive myself. It figures that I was in Italy when you submitted this series - and that I came back exactly on the 17th when you submitted your last story. Please don't mistake my neglect in writing comments for your stories as a lack of interest, for it was simply an abesence.
That said, this was a GREAT series, I loved every bit of it. Either you are very intelligent or you took the time to do some research (both would be impressive) because all the scientific explanations you gave of the weapons was amazing. Similarily the part about the vehicles was equally well done. My favorite part, however, was the tour of the different alien spacies, the writing was exceptionally good during this bit and your descriptions were bang on. By the way, your naming of the species in latin, just as they would have done if this scenario was real, was remarkably clever. If ever I had thought to do something similar to this, it never would have occured to me to do that.
Immediately I knew it would be a great story, judging by its author and his reputation, but its originality surprised me to no end. I liked this just as much as the Under the Sergeant's Cap series, which I didn't think I would. (Believe me, that's no small compliment.) I can only hope you will continue writing and continue the plot, even if in another series. I don't think anyone could torture us with that "Brutus" comment and not follow through on it. You wouldn't, now would you Marine? ;)
Well, anyway, words are all well and good, but they are just words. Numbers are exact. I like numbers. Want a number? Here's a number: 9.9/10. Great work, TM. Keep it up... or else!

Very good, TM. Too bad that was the final chapter. But, it was a different story than what is usually appearing now.

It was a few KBs over the limit, instead of having the bulk of it in one submission and a few pathetic paragraphs, I tried to split it equally.
