"With the addition of vehicles and melee attacks, as well as life-like teammates and enemies, the level of immersion is just beyond any other game out there."

"Halo is a flawed masterpiece, one which is well worth owning but which may start to grate after a while."

"Teknisk set er Halo en perle. Grafikken er en blanding af fejende flotte polygoner og teksturer, som utvivlsomt vil slå benene væk under dig.
"

"For at afslutte i samme spor som vi startede denne anmeldelse, så er der en grund til at Halo vandt 4 priser ved AIAA-awards."

"See, it isn't enough to play Halo. As exhilarating as it is, you then have to play it with someone else, or you'll be doomed to buttonholing your mates and passionately describing every skin-of-the-teeth scrape and rocket-assisted foul-up as if you really were some brain-fried veteran returned from an intergalactic war."

"If you enjoy blowing up aliens while trying to save the universe and humanity, then this is your game."

"Halo is good. Really good in fact. It’s so astonishingly good, you may want to expire after finishing the game rather than sully your telly with any other piece of gaming. "

"Halo takes first-person shooting on to a new level. People are going to be copying the ideas in here for years to come. "

I am nearly 100% sure I read this review on a different site some weeks ago. I can't find it, though.

"Imagine perfection. Just consider for one moment what it would be like to find a game in any genre that you would be happy to play until the cows came home, got bored and strolled off into the fields again. Well in the world of first person shooters the only name you need to know is Halo."
|
|
It's unclear when this review was actually posted (but it was sometime after January 1, 2002). We're arbitrarily setting the date, then, to the date it was placed in the database.

"This review was unnecessary, I think, since the hype that stood up among the gamers community justifies itself vigorously."

"Well, I had high expectations for this game, and to my surprise, it wasn't what I had expected. It was way better!"

"I was addicted to the graphics and the story, and I would wake up wanting to play the game. I would play so late that I would just be about ready to drop before I would drag myself to my bed."

"Amid the storm of the Christmas season, where gamers saw the release of any number of absolutely outstanding titles, Halo still stands out in the crowd as one of the best games of the year. "

"Sure Xbox has DVD playback, burns CDs, and has all these great internet capabilities, but Halo proves that it all comes down to one thing: high quality games."

"Bungie has obviously taken their sweet time in crafting a fine game, and in the process has not only solidified the Xbox launch but has made themselves a key second-party developer in the new generation of console wars.

"The main reason I wanted an Xbox was for Halo, but I also realize there are other fish in the sea. But those other fish aren't like Halo."

"Halo: Combat Evolved är inget annat än ett rent mästerverk, ett spel som ingen sann gamer får missa."
|
We don't know what that means, but mästerverk sounds like a good thing. Update: Jesper Ohlsson has translated this: "Halo: Combat Evolved is nothing other than a masterpiece, a game that no gamer should miss." Sounds about right...
